Key Features

  • Precise Detection: With a sensing range of 8 mm and compact footprint, it’s well-suited for installations in tight spaces.

  • Fast Detection: 200 Hz response frequency ensures swift detection of moving parts.

  • Durable Construction: IP67-rated ABS housing withstands harsh industrial environments.

  • Visual Feedback: LED indicator simplifies installation and troubleshooting.

  • Ease of Integration: 3-wire NPN output (+, 0, signal) makes wiring easy with standard control systems.

Applications

  • Automation & Robotics: Position detection on pick-and-place systems.

  • Packaging & Conveyor Lines: Detects presence of metallic items for sorting or counting.

  • Material Handling: Detects metal components or packages on belts.

  • Industrial Safety & Positioning: Acts as a non-contact switch in equipment.

How to Use the PSN17‑8DN

  1. Mount the Sensor

    • Secure the sensor using its mounting holes, aligning its sensing face toward the target metal within an 8 mm distance.

  2. Wiring Connections

    • Brown wire → +12–24 V DC

    • Blue wire → 0 V (Ground)

    • Black wire → Control system input (PLC, relay for NPN output)

  3. Operation Check

    • Power on the sensor. Bring a metal object into proximity; the built-in LED should light, and the NPN output will switch, signaling detection.

  4. Testing & Calibration

    • Ensure repeatability by testing multiple passes. Adjust positioning to confirm detection consistency. (No sensitivity adjustment needed.)

  5. Environment & Maintenance

    • Avoid exposure to extreme heat beyond rated temperature. Keep the sensing face clean for accurate operation.
